i REALLY think that wine was a MAJOR cultural thing back then. they had it like... with every meal and even more than that. of course, there are always exceptions, but i think they knew how to handle their wine. i challenge you to find a modern day person who hasn't made an "alcoholic mistake"... accident or not. i am not even claiming that i wont ever make one... i just really think we would be a whole lot better off if the stuff just didn't exist.
