They're Hee-eere!

So right now I'm in Houston, sitting in my brother's apartment, and next to me my mother is holding her grandson. There's also a lot of cooing and baby-talk going on. It's pretty cute.

My parents made it in one piece...sort of. As usual, their luggage was left behind. But supposedly it will be flying in today on the first flight into Houston. From there the luggage will catch a bus to my brother's apartment, climb the stairs, knock on the door and yell, "Surprise! Gotcha! You thought you'd lost us!! What a good joke!"

Fortunately, my tendency to over-pack has finally come in handy. That's providence for you.

Yesterday went smoothly for the most part. I've only seen a little evidence of Ike, but we are on the northwest side of Houston. All of the toll roads are free right now because of the hurricane, so my five dollars worth of quarters is now useless. I made it to the airport without much incident...but then I went to the wrong terminal. That was interesting.

Last night we ate at Pappa's Burgers and it may have been the best burger I've ever had! So good! And I don't even like beef. It's fun to see these ex-pats enjoy some American food (like burgers, fries, and chocolate shakes).

Nicholas has a bunch of fancy camera lenses (Canon), so I've been having a great time messing around with those. If you go to my dad's blog, I believe you can see pictures of my espresso lesson. Today we're probably going to hit up the Galleria and some other fun stores (Anthropologie, Francesca's, etc...). And it's only Wednesday! Five more days of this!!
I needed a vacay.
